2nd Special Session to Convene

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Congress): August 5, 2003
Speaker Peter M. Christian has called the Congress to
convene in a special session on the 25th of August.

This will be the Second
Special Session of the 13th Congress.

The session will last for five days, but could be extended or shortened by
resolution if Members believe necessary.

Members will consider the fiscal year 2004 budget, the nominations submitted
by President Joseph Urusemal as members of his cabinet, nominations for the
other boards and other measures pending before the Congress.

On July 23, the honorable Erkilaro Kohler, Nanmwarkien wein Sokehs,
awarded traditional titles to Speaker Peter Christian and President Joseph
Urusemal during a function held at the Cliff Rainbow Hotel for the three
leaders.

The two titles, Soumakan Tihbwo to Speaker Peter Christian and Luken Molelap
to President Joseph Urusemal are some honorary titles awarded to them for
recognition purposes only.

As is the way of the traditions, when titles are awarded, the receivers
would consider giving the provider something in return, like a “kapas mwar”
where the receiver plan something to show appreciation to the provider or a
party to celebrate the traditional awards.
