Authorities seek information about body found in Ngulu

POHNPEI, Palikir (FSM Information Service): August 2000 – Law enforcement authorities from the Federated States of Micronesia and the United States are seeking information leading to the identification of a corpse that washed ashore in an outer island of Yap State, last week.

Ngulu Atoll islanders found the body of a woman who had washed ashore clad in white shorts. The woman is believe to be Caucasian and young.

Early medical reports state the body appears to have been in the sea for up to four weeks.

FSM Secretary of Justice Paul McIlrath said that his department and the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation are seeking information that would lead to identification.

Anyone with information concerning a missing woman, Caucasian, who might have been traveling on a boat in this region are asked to contact the nearest FSM National Police Officer or the U.S. FBI.
