Congress’s Sixth Regular Session convenes with a loaded agenda

Palikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Services): January 10, 2007 – The Fourteenth Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia convened today for its Sixth Regular Session.

Speaker Peter M. Christian opened the Sixth Regular Session with a notation to the members that Congress has a full agenda ahead of them. He urged the Chairmen of the Standing Committees to coordinate their schedules to better facilitate those issues which may require participation from members of other committees.

Speaker Christian called attention to today’s loaded order of business and noted that the Executive Branch alone transmitted more than 30 Communications; Congress therefore, will be very busy for the next 20-days.

Congress completed today’s Order of Business and recessed to convene again tomorrow at 10am. The Sixth Regular Session of the 14th FSM Congress as scheduled, will be from January 10th thru 29th.

The Sixth Regular Session of the 14th Congress was witnessed by President Joseph J. Urusemal, Former President Leo A. Falcam, Vice President Redley Killion, members of the President’s Cabinet, members of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives from Pohnpei State Government, Municipal Government officials and the public in general.
