FSM finance officials meet on Compact compliance issues

Palikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Services): September 13, 2004 – The Finance and Budget officials of the Governments of the Federated States of Micronesia are in Chuuk to discuss, among other matters, the amended Compact implementation compliance issues.

Scheduled from September 13 – 17, the Conference will address the various issues raised during the Joint Economic Management Committee (JEMCO) meeting and also review the Resolutions adopted by the Committee in Honolulu.

President Joseph J. Urusemal had, immediately following the JEMCO meeting, urged the Governors to convene a meeting that will address the concerns raised in Honolulu, “a number of critical issues were raised concerning the FY-2005 budget and the Amended Compact implementation compliance in general.”

The issues, according to the President, “require immediate attention.”

In addition to the implementation issues, the weeklong meeting will also address budgetary measures, the various reporting procedures and selection of a vendor for the new Uniform Financial Management Information System for the FSM Governments.
