FSM Joint FEMA & USAID Workshop for Disaster Management

Palikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): February 11, 2010 – The U.S. Government Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), along with the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), has been conducting disaster assistance workshops in the FSM since late last year. The purpose of the workshop is to facilitate the Operational Blueprint on the transition of the U.S. Government in Disaster Management to all the relevant Departments, Offices and Agencies and to evaluate each of the FSM’s State on their level of disaster preparedness initiatives.

The team has already completed the workshop with Yap State, Pohnpei State, and Chuuk State, is planning on visiting Kosrae on February 15-17, 2010. The team will be accompanied by Ms. Oleen Poll, Mitigation Officer from the FSM Office of Environment and Emergency Management.
