FSM launches issues stamp of late Vice President Tun

Palikir, POHNPEI (FSM Philatelic Bureau/FSM Information Service): May 2, 2006 – The 39-cent stamp featuring a black and white photo of the late Vice President was unveiled on April 20 at a ceremony held at the Yap State Legislature Chambers. Officials from Yap State, the National Government and the local community witnessed the launching of the stamp.

Postmaster General, Bethwel Henry described the late Tun, as “truly one of the greatest leaders of our time” who contributed tremendously to FSM’s political and educational arena.

The background of the late Tun, along with being the nation’s First Vice President, includes being a Yap State Governor and various top positions in the State Government.

He passed away in 1999, leaving behind a legacy of being one of the “famous founding fathers” of the new nation of FSM.
