FSM’s Forum Delegation Returned

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): October 1, 1997
– The FSM Delegation to the South Pacific Forum held in Rarotonga,
Cook Islands, returned to Pohnpei on Thursday, September 25, 1997.
The delegation headed by President Jacob Nena included First Lady
Lerina, Secretary of the Department of External Affairs Epel Ilon and
Assistant Secretary Kandhi Eliesar.

Ambassador Alik Alik, another member of Nena’s delegation remained
for the Post-Forum Meeting which took place after the end of the
Forum Meeting. Ambassador Alik will be returning to the FSM Mission
in Suva, Fiji, after the Post-Forum Meeting.

The issue of environmental pollution dominated the Forum Meeting
according to reports eminated from the Rarotonga meeting. Prime
Minister of Australia spoke at the meeting defending Australia’s
position on the reduction of air pollutants from its manufacturing
industries.
