International Basketball Coach to Visit Kosrae and Pohnpei

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): April 29, 1998 – Jon Hoyle, development
officer, for the Oceania Basketball Confederation arrived Pohnpei,
April 27th to conduct numerous basketball activities on Pohnpei
and Kosrae. He will be left to Kosrae, April 29th and will be
there until May 12th when he will leave for Pohnpei. He will
be in Pohnpei until May 25th. The basketball course is funded
by the FSM National Olympic Committee.

Hoyle plans to make daytime visits to elementary and secondary
schools, hold basketball coaching and referee accreditation course
for player and coaches and work with the Pohnpei and Kosrae men
and women teams competing in the upcoming Micronesian Games.

Hoyle has been coaching and teaching basketball for over 10
years He coached the Tahiti gold medal winning basketball teams
in the 1995 South Pacific Games. He travels throughout the Pacific
region holding basketball workshops. According to Jim Tobin,
“Jon is a world class basketball coach and I hope Pohnpei
and Kosrae take advantage of his basketball experience.”
