Mori Urged Congress to Approve Airport Improvement

Palikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Services): August 31, 2007 – In his letter to Speaker Figir, President informed Speaker that the United States has offered the FSM eight grants for the ongoing Airport Improvement Program projects for the international airports in each of the four states.

The Grants will fund ninety-five percent (95%) of the cost of procuring design services for the construction of an Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting buildings and the rehabilitation of runway, taxiway and apron for the international airport in each state.

These grants are qualified as program funds received from the US pursuant to the Compact of Free Association section 221(a), 221(c) and 234. The grants require Congressional Approval.
