Nena Acknowledge Invitation to Attend 37th SPC in Canberra
PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): September 30,
1997 – FSM President Jacob Nena, on September 23, 1997,
acknowledged an invitation from the Honorable Alexander Downer,
Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, inviting the FSM Government
to participate in the upcoming 37th South Pacific Commission’s
Conference to be held in Canberra, Australia, from October 19 to the
21, 1997.
The FSM Government attaches great importance to the role that the
South Pacific Commission plays in the socio-economic development of
the region, Nena stated, in this respect, the Vice President, the
Honorable Leo A. Falcam, will be heading the FSM delegation to
Canberra to commemorate this important occasion.
The names of other members of the FSM delegation and details on
their travel arrangements will be communicated to the Australian
Embassy to the FSM in due course, President Nena stated.

productive conference, Nena concluded.
This year’s conference will mark the 37th year of SPC’s existence.
