Nena Declared FSM Completed Ratification of CTBT

On June 11, 1997, FSM President Jacob Nena declared the FSM
Government has completed its internal constitutional process of
ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Teat-Ban Treaty (CTBT) and
submit the same to the United Nations Secretary-General who is
designated as the depository of the CTBT instrument of ratification
by the Convention.

The FSM signed the CTBT when it was opened for signature in New
York on September 24, 1996, and the FSM Congress on March 21, 1997,
ratified the Treaty in accordance with the Constitution and laws of
the FSM.

The declaration was made in an Instrument of Ratification of the
Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty on June 11, 1997, by the Office
of the President in Palikir, Pohnpei.
