Nena Declared May 31, 1997, World No-Tobacco Day

FSM President Jacob Nena proclaimed May 31, 1997, as World No-Tobacco
Day in conjunction with the World Health Organization’s 1997 theme,
“United for tobacco-free world.”

Governments, communities, groups and individuals are encouraged to
become aware of the devastating economic and human costs of tobacco
use; its health hazards; and take steps to control and prevent
tobacco use among young people and encouraging participation in
worldwide efforts of attaining “Health for All.”
