Nena establishes Special Review Committee for ERP

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): May 5, 1998 President
Jacob Nena has established a Special Review Committee in the
National Government to coordinate the approval process for early
retirement program (ERP) applicants, according to an April 29th
communication to the Speaker of Congress, the Chief Justice of
the FSM Supreme Court, the Department, Offices and Agency Heads.

Nena stated in his communication that the national government
is experiencing complicated legal and administrative requirements
as so many essential employees wanting to participate in the
program.

The Special Review Committee (SRC) composed of Vice President
Leo A. Falcam, Chairman and members include Edgar Isaac, Personnel
Office; Klastine Lihpai, Budget Office and Nina Ecijima from
the Department of Justice. Those represented on the SRC will
review and screen ERP applications and determine eligibility,
exact term of participation and identification of specific position
being eliminated.

The SRC will review applications against established criteria;
rejected applications will be returned with written explanation
by Personnel reflecting the SRC review.

For planning purposes, Nena said, the SRC would remain in
existence only for the period of the ERP program, through March
1999.
