Nena Invited President Kabua to Visit the FSM

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): October 3, 1997
– FSM President Jacob Nena, on October 1, 1997, informed his Cabinet
Members that he has extended an invitation to President Imata Kabua,
Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) for a State visit to the FSM
later this month, tentatively during the week of October 26th,
according to the Office of the President.

In preparation for the visit, the President instructed the
departments of External Affairs, the Attorney General Office, and the
staff of the President’s Office to organize into a group who will
coordinate the preparations for the visit. The Department of External
Affairs shall serve as the Chair. However, all other departments and
offices should assist when called upon.

Nena also recommended that Pohnpei State Government be requested
to designate a representative to assist the preparatory group.

It is anticipated that President Kabua will make a stop-over in
Kosrae and the Government of the State of Kosrae should be consulted
on the preparations.

As the first State Visit of a Head of State, and a traditional
leader, it is very important that the preparations are adequately
done. “I, therefore, ask for your full cooperation”, Nena concluded.
