Nena Signed Bills Passed By 10th Congress 1st Regular Session

-President Jacob Nena has informed Congress Speaker Fritz his actions
on three of the Congressional Acts that were forwarded to his office
for action. In a May 28, 1997 communication to Speaker Fritz the
President stated that he signed Congressional Act 10-1 into Public
Law No. 10-1, further amending Public Law Nos. 9-100, which
appropriated the sum of $ 5,350,000 for projects in chuuk State.
It was subsequently amended by Public Law Nos. 9-104, 9-129 and
9-150. The latest amendment is to further reallocate and change the
use of certain funds appropriated for public projects and programs in
the State of Chuuk.
President Nena on June 11, 1997 signed Congressional Act No. 10-2
into law and designated it as Public Law No. 10-2. It further amends
Public Law No. 8-115, which appropriates $ 500,000 to assist
State-administered public health programs in the State of Chuuk. It
was subsequently amended by Public Law Nos. 9-092 and 9-107. This
latest amendment is to further change that portion earmarked
specifically for the Mortlocks.
The President also signed on June 11, 1997, Congressional Act No.
10-3, designating it Public Law No. 10-3, which further modifies and
reallocates the use of $142,802, for funding elementary and secondary
schools in the State of Chuuk.
President Nena also received from Congress copies of Congress
Resolution No. 10-18, adopted on May 22, 1997, which authorized the
Legislative Counsel and Congress Staff Attorneys to represent the
Congress Public Information Officer in a lawsuit Civil Case No.
1997-061, entitled O’Sullivan versus Panuelo, et al.
The President also received Congressional Resolution No. 10-3,
ratifying the Air Transport Agreement between the Federated States of
Micronesia and the Republic of the Marshall Islands which was signed
in Palikir by representatives of the two governments on May 5, 1997.
