Philippines GEM Delegation to Visit Pohnpei

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): June 10, 1997
On June 4, 1997, President Jacob Nena informed Pohnpei Governor Del
Pangelinan that a group from the Growth with equity in Mindanao (GEM),
Philippines, headed by the General Consul of the Republic of the
Philippines to Guam, Antonio P. Villamor, proposed to visit Pohnpei
on June 21, 1997.

The GEM delegation would like to look into investment
opportunities, information exchange on fisheries and aquatic
resources management and conservation, and other areas of possible
mutual cooperation with the different sector of the economy, Nena
stated.

In this connection, the delegation requests meetings with Lt.
Governor Dion G. Neth, Director of Resource Management and
Conservation David Panuelo and the General Manager of Pohnpei
Fisheries Corporation, James Movick.

Because the National Government needs to reply to the request,
President Nena asked the Governor to reply at his earliest
opportunity.
