Piis-Emwar Island Church Group Visited Congress

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Congress): November 5, 2002
A Piis-Emwar Island church group visited the Congress
during its 23rd day of the on going 4th Regular Session November 5, 2002.
The group was introduced and was allowed to sing two songs for the Congress
and the few people observing the morning session. The group sang a
traditional song, which encouraged, in traditional words, the leaders (the
senators) to paddle the FSM¹s canoe forward and asked the leaders not to
allow us to paddle behind other canoes and “lead us to the promised land,”
the translation of the whole song in short.
Speaker Jack Fritz urged the committees to complete their committee reports
and to conduct public hearings on matters left to be done by them.
Congress stood in recess at 11:40 a.m. and will reconvene tomorrow at 10:00
a.m.
