Pingelap Municipal Officials pay courtesy call on the President

Palikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): June 9, 2011 – On May 31, 2011 a delegation from Pingelap Municipality in the State of Pohnpei, consisting of Mr. Makir Keller, Mayor, Mr. Smith Ezra, Speaker of Municipal Council, and a few other officials, paid a courtesy call on President Manny Mori at the Presidential Conference Room in Palikir.

During their brief meeting, Mayor Keller offered congratulatory remarks to the President for having been re elected to a second term as President of the FSM.

President Mori expressed appreciation to the Mayor and his delegation for their visit and their hospitality extended to him and his delegation when he visited Pingelap on October 11 – 12, 2010.

The President discussed with the visiting party a number of issues that have direct impact on outer islands in the federation including sea and air transportation, food security, tsunami and sea-level rise, etc.

The Pingelap officials have been on Pohnpei to hold a regular session of their Municipal Council as well as doing official business with State and National Officials.
