Pohnpei Festivities for International Women’s Day on March 8

Palikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): March 7, 2011 – International Women’s Day activities will be held on Tuesday, March 8, at the FSM-China Friendship Sport Complex at the Palikir Campus of the College of Micronesia. Festivities will open for the general public at 8:30 A.M., all are invited to participate in this event.

This year’s theme is “Equal Access to Education, Training and Science and Technology: Pathway to Decent Work for Women.” Pohnpei Governor Ehsa will be present to give welcoming remarks, to be followed by a keynote address from Senator Magdalena Walter. The program will include representations from 25 Pohnpei dance groups.

This event is being organized by the Pohnpei State Office of Social Affairs, in conjunction with the Women’s Office and the Pohnpei Women’s Advisory Council.
