PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): September 12,
1997 – The Fourth Pohnpei State Legislature, for and on behalf of
the people of Pohnpei, acknowledges and congratulates the Honorable
Leo A. Falcam, for his successful election to the post of Vice
president of the nation, by adopting Legislature Resolution No.
50-97, during its Fifth Regular Session and transmitting to him an
official copy.
L.R. NO. 50-97, extends the Legislature’s best wishes for Falcam’s
success during his term of office.
Falcam an at-large member from Pohnpei was elected to become Vice
President on may 11, 1997, by Congress of the FSM. he was sworn into
office on May 14, 1997 at the inauguration of President Jacob Nena
and Vice President Falcam.
LR. NO. 50-97, states in part that people of Pohnpei have good,
long-standing relationship with Chuuk, Kosrae and Yap States, which
states have created the national government, a relationship based on
the highest degree of respect and understanding.
Pohnpei believes that it will continue to work with other three
states and the national government to do all things necessary and
appropriate to promote regional friendship, the resolution stated.
Copies of the resolution were transmitted to Honorable Leo A.
Falcam, Vice president of the Federated States of Micronesia; Chief
Justice of the FSM Supreme Court; Speaker of the FSM Congress; the
four State Governors; Four Chief Justices of the State Supreme Courts
and the Presiding Officers of the State Legislatures.
