Pretrick and Yoma to Attend WHO Conference in Australia

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): September 16,
1997
– FSM Secretary of Health Services Dr. Eliuel K. Pretrick
and the Administrator, Division of Preventive health Services Sizue
Yoma are representing the FSM at the 48th session of the World health
Organization Regional Committee for Western Pacific which will be
held in Sydney, Australia from September 22 to 26, 1997.

In his letter announcing the conference and inviting participants,
T.H. Han, MD, Ph.D., Regional Director called attention to resolution
WHA33.17, adopted by the 33rd World Health Assembly, which urges
member States “to coordinate their representation at regional
committees and the Health Assembly, to designate representatives to
the regional committees and to the Health Assembly who will later be
in a position to influence national health policy adopted in WHO.

A technical briefing will also be held on the topic ” Australia’s
health services – overview and highlights.”
