Speaker Figir calls for Eight Special Session

PALIKIR, POHNPEI (FSM Congress): May 7, 2009 – Speaker Isaac V. Figir has called for the Eight Special Session of the 15th Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia to convene tomorrow, May 8 2009, at 10 am in Palikir.

The Special Session is called for one day only to discuss recent developments on certain Congressional Acts that were passed during the last Special Session in March. While the session is for one day only, it is anticipated that it would be a split session with half in the morning with the final half in the afternoon. According to the Chief Clerk Liwiana R. Ioanis, the split-session is to “facilitate the work of the Committee to Wait on the President, in accordance with the Official Rules of Procedures for Congress.”

The sessions of the FSM Congress, as usual, are open to the general public.
