The People’s Republic of China Donates $150,000 to the FSM’s COVID-19 Pandemic Response

PALIKIR, Pohnpei—On November 25th, 2021, the Honorable Marcus Samo—Secretary of the
Department of Health & Social Affairs of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM)—received on
behalf of the Nation a donation of $150,000 from the People’s Republic of China (China) in a
handover ceremony with His Excellency Huang Zheng, Ambassador of China to the FSM. The
donation comes as a result of the first-ever China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers
Meeting held on October 21st, 2021. This donation is the fourth direct cash donation to the FSM
from China over the course of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and is sourced from the China-Pacific
Island Country Cooperation Fund Against COVID-19. (PDF)
