US Independence Day celebrated

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (Dept. of Foreign Affairs): July 14, 2008 – The United States Embassy to the Federated States of Micronesia held an official ceremony to celebrate the 232nd Anniversary of Independence of the United States of America at the U.S Ambassador’s residence in Nanpohnmal on July 4th. The event brought together a mix of individuals from the Government, Diplomatic and Honorary Corps, private sector, civil society, media and citizens from the United States and the FSM. President Manny Mori was in attendance.

The theme of the festive occasion focused on Democracy and what it means to the United States and the Federated States of Micronesia. The momentous occasion provided an opportunity for those present at the ceremony to share and reaffirm their commitments to the fundamental principles of Democracy and the unique and special bilateral relations that the two countries have come to enjoy.
