Vice President Alik Attends ANZAC Ceremony

Palikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): May 7, 2009 – Palikir, Pohnpei (Department of Foreign Affairs): On the early morning ceremony of ANZAC day, which was held on Saturday, April 25th, the Honorable Vice President Alik L. Alik laid the wreath on the ANZAC monument at the Australian Naval Residential Compound, located in Nett. ANZAC day was commemorated by Australians and New Zealanders all around the world for the first major military action undertaken during the First World War.

Accompanying Vice-President were Second Lady Shra Alik, Deputy Secretary of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Jane Chigiyal, and Special Assistant to the President, Mr. Josiah Waguk. Members and staff of the diplomatic community as well as Micronesian veterans of the U.S Armed Forces were also present.
