PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): March 27, 1998 – President Jacob Nena, in a March 19th
Communication to Yap Governor Vincent Figir, stated that MS Caroline Voyager is
tentatively scheduled to depart for Yap on March 30, 1998.
Nena was responding to a faxed message from Figir, requesting transportation
assistance in dealing with the adverse effects of El Nino or d draught weather affecting
the neighboring islands of the state.
Nena told Figir that MS Caroline Voyager is being refitted and provisioned,
thereafter it will make a water supply trip to Mwoakilloa and Pingelap atolls in Pohnpei State.
Nena concluded his message by indicating that any assistance from Yap State in
fuel bunkering arrangement for the ship will expedite arrangements for the ship’s departure.
