10th CFSM to Convene 2nd Regular Session October 13

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): September 13,
1997
– Congress Vice Speaker Claude Phillip signed for Congress
Speaker Jack Fritz, on September 30, 1997, and sent to President
Jacob Nena, a letter informing him that the 10th Congress will be
convening on October 13, 1997, at its Chamber in Palikir, Pohnpei.

“[…] we will be deliberating on very important and urgent matters
requiring Congress’ actions,” the letter stated without specifying
any items. “we look forward to working closely with you on any matter
you may wish us to consider during the session,” Phillips stated,
adding, “We as usual, would like to encourage cooperation from you
and your cabinet members to make this session a most productive one.”

The letter also served as an invitation to the President and his
Cabinet Members to the opening and throughout the session days.

On October 6, 1997, President Nena responded by acknowledging the
September 30 letter saying, “Likewise, I am looking forward to
working very closely with you and your colleagues on all the
important and urgent matters that you will be deliberating during the
session. See you all next week.”
