President Mori Asks for Congress Approval on $4,000,000 RMB Grant from the People’s Republic of ChinaPalikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Service): January 30, 2008 – President Emanuel Mori transmitted to Speaker Isaac Figir of the 15th FSM Congress exchange letters for an agreement signed between the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and the Department of Foreign Affairs. The agreement is for a gratuitous grant from the government of the People’s Republic of China of $4,000,000 RMB (over $550,000 USD) to assist the FSM Embassy in Beijing. President Mori said that he is hoping that the grant can be used to construct an Embassy Compound in Beijing and asked for Speaker Figir to give the agreement his favorable consideration.
