Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)Department of Health, Education, and Social AffairsFebruary 20, 2006The Department of Health, Education, and Social Affairs (HESA) announces that an application for funding under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is being submitted for Fiscal Year 2006. The FSM receives funding under IDEA to provide special education and related service programs for eligible children with disabilities and their families. IDEA requires that the annual application for funding be made available for Public Review and Comment. Consistent with this requirement, HESA announces that the Annual State Application under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act as Amended in 2004 for Federal Fiscal Year 2006 will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education on April 21, 2006. The Department announces that a 60 day public review period and a 30 day public comment period will be available to allow the public an opportunity to review the application and to makes comments. The dates for the 60 day public review will be from February 21, 2006 – April 21, 2006. The public comment period will be from March 15, 2006 – April 15, 2006. Copies of the application are available at each State Department of Education.
