Nena Transmitted to Fritz Grants Applications

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): September 30,
1997 – President Jacob Nena, on September 26, 1997, transmitted
to Congress, pursuant to Public Law No. 6-22, FY 98 the following
grant applications:

The Maternal and Child Health Block Grant application for Fiscal
Year 1998 in the amount of $536,631; FY 98 State System Development
Initiative for $100,000; the FY-98 Substance Abuse Prevention and
Treatment grant application for $512,529 and FY 98 Community Mental
Health Services of unspecified amount.

Nena told Fritz that the applications are necessary for the
continuation of on-going programs in the FSM for which funds received
will be distributed among the FSM States and the National Government.
The on-going programs contribute significantly to the health of
people of the FSM, Nena stated, urging the Congress to approve the
applications as submitted.
