Nena Conveyed Condolences to Coleman

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): May 7, 1997
FSM Acting President Jacob Nena send through diplomatic channel on
May 1, 1997, to Madam Lora Coleman his sincere condolences on his own
behalf and on behalf of the people of the Federated States of
Micronesia for the untimely passing of her husband the late Peter T.
Coleman, who died of liver cancer at the age of 77 at his Niu Valley
home in Honolulu on April 28, 1997.

Nena stated, “many of my colleagues and I who are in high
positions in the FSM Government had the good fortune of experiencing
our first government jobs under the able leadership of your late
husband. Unselfishly dedicated to the growth and development of the
Pacific Islands region and its peoples; Mr. Coleman was indeed a
pioneer. For many, he was like a genuine father – loving and caring
for the Pacific sons and daughters. He will not be easily
forgotten.”

“At this time of personal grief and sorrow, I can only say that
our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and friends. May
the good Lord bring peace and comfort to you and your loved ones,”
Nena concluded.

FSM General Consul in Hawaii, Kasio Mida, who relayed the message
to the FSM Acting President said that the late Coleman will be buried
at the Diamond Head memorial park. Time has yet to be announced.

Coleman served long years in the Government of the Trust territory
of the pacific Islands both at the District level as District
Administrator and at the Headquarters level as Deputy High
Commissioner. On a number of instances he was appointed Acting High
Commissioner.
