Former U.S. Soldier Remembered in KosraePalikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): June 16, 2010 – On May 22, the remains of the late U.S. Army Sergeant Leilani Mongkeya arrived at Kosrae International Airport in Kosrae aboard Continental flight CO957. SGT Mongkeya medically retired from the U.S. Military in March 2009. Mogkeya died on May 7 in El Paso, Texas. That same day the family and friends of the late-sergeant escorted her remains to the Mongkeya Residence in Tofol, Kosrae, where a funeral was held in her honor. U.S. Embassy Management Officer JoEllen Gorg provided remarks, while the U.S. Military Honor Guard presented the flag to SGT Mogkeya’s father, Shrew Mongkeya. Sergeant Leilani Mongkeya joined the U.S. Army in 2004. She is survived by her father Shrew, mother Lorinda, son Darious Jr., and sisters Suwanita, MariLinda, and Linsen.
