Bill which Disqualifies National Government Early Retirees

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): March 27, 1998 – President Jacob Nena, on March 13th,
transmitted a draft bill to Congress Speaker Jack Fritz for favorable consideration of
Congress.

The bill to amend section 136 of title 52 of the FSM Code to disqualify state
early retirement program participants from appointment or employment in the FSM Government
under its Public Service System.

The duration of such disqualification from employment in the state public service
would be for the same period as if the retiree has been retired from employment in the FSM
Government Public Service System or for a period of two years from commencement of the
Early Retirement Program.

Nena informed Speaker Fritz that he is circulating copies of the bill to the State
Governors urging them to introduce similar legislation in their respective legislature for
enactment.
