 Chuuk requires Pohnpei arrivals to have health clearancePOHNPEI, Palikir (FSM Information Service): May 2000 – Chuuk State, in response to the outbreak of cholera in Pohnpei State, has implemented the following precautionary measures concerning passengers arriving from Pohnpei State, according to a letter from Herliep Nowell, director of Chuuk State Health Services dated May 17. The Administrative Directive number 01-00 states that all Pohnpei passengers coming to Chuuk must enter Chuuk State only through the appropriate port of Entry on Weno. It furthermore states that all passengers from Pohnpei Chuuk must have a certificate from the Pohnpei Public Health Division attesting tetracycline treatment/prophylaxis for three consecutive days immediately prior to arriving in Chuuk. All Pohnpei passengers Chuuk originating from Pohnpei must have their Pohnpei certificates checked by Chuuk Health authorities and Continental-Micronesia Airlines shall be held responsible for returning any passenger coming from Pohnpei to Chuuk without any duly validated health certificate as required by the directive. The directive also states that all Pohnpei passengers to any place outside of Pohnpei may be allowed entry into Chuuk only upon spending at least five consecutive days in other places immediately prior to their entry into Chuuk State. The directive states that it becomes effective immediately.
