Draft FSM School Accreditation System Available for Public Review

Palikir, Pohnpei (National Department of Education): September 2, 2010 – In order to meet the mandatory requirements of the FSM Code Title 40, Chapter 1, subsection 108, on the Accreditation of Elementary and Secondary schools, the FSM National Department of Education (NDOE), in collaboration with State Departments of Education, FSM College of Micronesia and representatives of private schools, has developed a draft FSM School Accreditation System.

The system includes a policy on accreditation as well as supporting documents for school evaluation and school self-study. The system is outlined in a draft FSM School Accreditation Guidance Handbook available for download on the NDOE website: http://www.fsmed.fm/. The Secretary of Education invites comments from educators and the general public on the draft document to Casiano.Shoniber@fsmed.fm by October 2, 2010.
