FSM congratulates US on 230th Independence Anniversary

Palikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Services): July 4, 2006 – President Joseph J. Urusemal extends congratulations from the people of the Federated States of Micronesia to United States of America on the occasion of its 230th Independence Anniversary.

His letter to United States President, George W. Bush reads:

Dear President Bush,

On the occasion of your country’s Two Hundred and Thirtieth Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the people of the Federated States of Micronesia join me in extending our congratulations and best wishes for a safe and joyous 4th of July Celebration.

The United States of America and the Federated States of Micronesia have long enjoyed a close and special relationship particularly under the Compact of Free Association. The people and the Government of the Federated States of Micronesia are grateful for this mutually beneficial relationship.

I value the close relationship that our two Governments have come to enjoy and look forward to working with you in furthering issues of mutual interest in the days ahead.

United States Ambassador to the FSM, Suzanne Hale, is hosting a reception at the U.S. Residence in celebration of the 230th Anniversary of U.S. Independence.
