Hazardous Material Training and Exercise Scheduled for Yap State

Palikir, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services): June 10, 2009 – The Bioterrorism Program under the FSM Department of Health and Social Affairs (HAS) will be conducting a Hazardous Material Training and Exercise in Yap State at the ESA Family Corporation’s Restaurant/Conference room from June 8-12, 2009. The training will be all day long and classes and instructional materials will be facilitated by Mr. John Scott of AMPRO Incorporated of Guam.

The purpose of this training is to strengthen the skills of Yap State’s first responders/receivers in responding to emergency situations and it is specifically designed for those who have previously attended this course and for other members of the Yap State HAZMAT team that have never taken this course. Participants will be certified at the end of this training.

The first four days of the training will be interactive, using lectures and slide presentations. On the final day, a simulation exercise will be conducted and everyone attending will be required to participate.
