Interior Official Visits the FSM

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): November 14,
1997
– Allen P. Stayman, Director of the Office of Insular
Affairs, U.S. Department of Interior, called on the President this
afternoon, November 14.

Stayman arrived Pohnpei yesterday (Thursday, November 13) for a
two days visit which will end on Saturday, November 15.

In a meeting to brief Vice President Leo A. Falcam on Thursday,
Secretary of the Department of External Affairs Epel Ilon told Falcam
that the purpose of Stayman’s visit to the FSM is to review the
progress of EMPAT’s work with the FSM National Government.

Stayman is scheduled to meet with the FSM National Government
officials today which include the courtesy call this afternoon on
President Nena.

Director Stayman is also scheduled to tour the College of
Micronesia – FSM Campus in Palikir and visit Pohnpei Agriculture and
Trade School (PATS) in Madolenihmw where he is expected to meet with
Director Joseph Billotti.

Stayman will depart Pohnpei on Saturday. His delegation members
include Dave Heggestad, OIA Budget Officer, Jim Johnson, OIA incoming
Director of Technical Assistance, Joseph McDermott, OIA FSM Desk
Officer, and Frankie Calhoun from the Department of State.
