Johnnyboy Designated Acting T&C Secretary

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): December 5,
1997
– President Jacob Nena, on November 28, 1997, designated
Jolden Johnnyboy as Acting Secretary of the Department of
Transportation and Communications, effective December 1st, until the
return of Secretary Weilbacher.

Weilbacher was attending a Joint Congressional Committees of
Resources and Development and Transportation and Communications which
held public hearings in the State of Chuuk during the week of
December 1st.

The hearings were to focus on proposed tourism development plan,
the draft foreign investment regulations, and the progress being made
by the states toward reforming their foreign investment regulations,
President Nena said in a November 28th letter, addressed to Chuuk
Governor Ansito Walter, Senate President Detor Santos and House
Speaker Masachiro Christlib.

Undoubtedly, tourism involves air, land and sea transportation,
and land and ocean resources, and people both tourists and indigenous
all interacting with each other for mutual benefit for all concerned.
