Greetings, Kaselehlie, Mogethin, Ran allem, Lenwo, or as in a newly coined expression – KAMORALE to all of you, and welcome to the website of the Permanent Mission of the Federated States of Micronesia to the United Nations in New York. Through the various links provided on our website you will be able find the site of the Department of Foreign Affairs and other websites from the various departments and agencies of the national government, including links to the Office of the President and to the Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia. The Permanent Mission website also provides information about the work it carries out as part of the overall work program of the Government with its primary focus on the United Nations system.
The Permanent Mission takes pride in its transparency and in disseminating information on its work relating to the United Nations system, including its principle organs, our participation in the main committees and plenary of the General Assembly, in open debates of the Security Council (UNSC), the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and the subsidiary organs of the UN. As a Pacific Small Island Developing State (PSIDS), which existence is threatened by the sea-level rise and climate change, which issues are of our primary focus, other important areas include the 2030 UN development agenda, food security, environment, indigenous issues, women in development, and disarmament, political and legal. With our country’s waters occupying nearly 1.2 million square miles of the Pacific Ocean, giving our country the 14th largest exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the world, ocean related matters are prominent on our UN Mission agenda.
The Mission makes available on its website information on opportunities at the United Nations that are available to our citizens.
Our interventions at the UN, many of which are on issues relating to the identified aforementioned focused areas are memorialized on the website, and provide important guidance on the content of our foreign policy on these wide range topics.
While visiting Micronesia through cyberspace, do consider visiting our country in person to know us better and to enjoy the Paradise in Our Backyard.
Kinnisou Chapur, Kalahngan, Kammagar, Kulo and thank you for visiting the website of the Permanent Mission of the Federated States of Micronesia to the United Nations in New York.
