President Urusemal meets with Admiral Fallon of PACOM

Palikir, POHNPEI (Department of Foreign Affairs/FSM Information Service): July 8, 2005 – President Joseph J. Urusemal recently met with Admiral William J. Fallon, head of the United States Pacific Command (US PACOM) in Hawaii.

The meeting at Camp H. M. Smith in Honolulu afforded an opportunity for the President and the Admiral to discuss issues and areas of mutual interest. President Urusemal reiterated FSM’s continued support of the US’s continued fight against global terrorism.

He expressed appreciation to Admiral Fallon for the US Navy’s continued support and assistance extended to the FSM in the areas of search and rescue operations. The President extended an invitation to the Admiral to visit the FSM when his schedule permits.

Admiral Fallon is the senior commander of the US military forces in the Pacific and Indian Ocean areas. A unified command which includes about 300,000 military personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps (about 20 percent of all active duty U.S. military forces).
