Second FSM Games Starts Today, July 15, in Kosrae State

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): July 16, 1997
FSM President Jacob Nena left Pohnpei for the State of Kosrae to
officially open the Second FSM games today, July 15, 1997. Before
leaving Pohnpei, he directed all department, office and agency heads
of the FSM National Government on July 10, 1997, to ensure that their
employees who are participating in the Games as athletes or officials
are allowed to take part in the Games as part of their regular
government services.

National Government employees who are in Kosrae to help out in the
Games are authorized to earn normal eight hours of pay a day. But
for those who will be there as spectators, approval of leave of
absence would have to be granted by their immediate supervisors. For
exempt employees who want leave of absence, such request will first
be approved by the President or the Vice President.

The Second FSM Games is being held in the State of Kosrae
beginning on July 15 to the 25, 1997. Detailed information can be
obtained by contacting the Office of the FSM Amateur Sports
Association within the FSM Department of Health Services.
