Two positions filled at FSM President’s Office

POHNPEI, Palikir (FSM Information Service): September 2000 – The FSM Office of the President has recently filled two key executive office positions.

Sam Nathan, from Faichuk, Chuuk State, comes to the Special Assistant to the President on State and Municipal matters position. He most recently served as the deputy director of Personnel in the Chuuk State government.

Nathan is charged with following up matters affecting the relationships between the states and municipal governments and the President’s Office. The purpose is to more smoothly develop working relationships among the various levels and to coordinate information and requests concerning federal and disaster preparedness programs with the states and their municipalities.

Taking over the Protocol Officer position at the President’s Office is Joanie Mendiola. She replaces Karmeriahna Yamada.

As protocol officer she will be responsible for a host of responsibilities including proper arrangement of dignitary gatherings and secretarial duties involving the gatherings of presidential guests.

Mendiola transferred from the FSM Department of Economic Affairs where she served as secretary to the Secretary of Economic Affairs.

Mendiola has served with the FSM government for 11 years.
