2002 Joint Law Enforcement Agreement
2002 Joint Law Enforcement AgreementKOLONIA, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): February 11, 2002 – Governor Johnny P. David wrote a letter to President Leo A. Falcam giving his endorsement of the 2002 Joint Administration of Law Enforcement Agreement between the National and State of Pohnpei governments. His endorsement came with some reservation since the funding level for Pohnpei law enforcement was cut in half from the 2001 level. The Governor stated that although the term calls for the period of a year, if Pohnpei finds that it is unable to perform under the agreement due to the decrease in the funding level it would unilaterally cancel the agreement at that time. He also informed the President that Pohnpei State would no longer participate in the program from 2003 forward until a mutual understanding of adequate funding levels is reached.
