Today, April 19, 2023, the Government of the Federated States of Micronesia and the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina established diplomatic relations at a ceremony held in New York. Ambassador Jeem Lippwe of Micronesia and Ambassador Sven Alkalaj signed a Joint Communiqué formalizing diplomatic relations.
During the meeting, the Ambassadors briefly discussed and both countries agreed on the importance of climate change.
The establishment of diplomatic relations between the FSM and Bosnia and Herzegovina reaffirmed the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations and was done in accordance with the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of April 18th, 1961.
The foreign policy of the FSM is to be a friend to all and an enemy to none and to extend to all
nations and peoples that which it seeks: peace, friendship, cooperation, and love in our common humanity.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is the 97th country with which the FSM has established diplomatic relations.
