Congress hears recommendations for MMA Board

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): February 2000 – Congress deferred action, today, on committee reports recommending three members to the Board of Directors of the Micronesian Maritime Authority during Special Session.

The Committee on Resources and Development reports recommend Patrick Mackenzie, Johnny Killion, and Akillino Susaia be confirmed by the Congress to sit on the board.

The committee expressed in writing that a public hearing is unnecessary given the adequate information already received regarding the nominees.

Mackenzie and Killion, representing the national government and Chuuk State, respectively, served on the previous board.

Susaia is currently the Pohnpei Port Authority general manager. President Leo A. Falcam nominated Susaia after consulting with Pohnpei State Governor Johnny David.
