Congress recessed until March 31PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Congress): March 27, 2008 – Today Speaker Isaac V. Figir recessed the Fourth Special Session of the 15th Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia until Monday – March 31 2008, to allow the Congressional Committees adequate time for public hearings. The decision followed the reading of the Report (Special Committee Report 15-07) by the Committee to Wait on the President which summarized President Manny Mori’s priorities for calling the Special Session and conveyed the Congress’ views on several of his priorities. Following the report, Speaker Figir tasked the Congressional Standing Committees to schedule their public hearings to address the President’s request. He further noted that he expects the Committee Reports when the session reconvenes on Monday. Before the session recessed, the Congressional Standing Committees announced their schedules for their public hearings to be held on Thursday and Friday.
