FSM express support for UN Resolution 1701Palikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Services): August 15, 2006 – The Government of the Federated Stats of Micronesia supports United Nations Security Council Resolution 17001 that calls for full cessation of the hostilities in Lebanon, particularly the immediate cessation of all attacks by Hezbollah and all offensive military operations by Israel. The FSM hopes that the implementation of the Resolution will ease the humanitarian plight of the people on both sides of the border. The FSM joins the international community in expressing appreciation to the Untied States of America and the Republic of France for their efforts in pushing the resolution forward. The FSM commends the work of the UN Security Council and welcomes its unanimous adoption of the resolution.
