May 14-20 proclaimed National Women’s Health WeekPalikir, POHNPEI (FSM Information Service): May 12, 2006 – President Joseph J. Urusemal has issued a proclamation that May 14 thru 20 will be observed throughout the Federated States of Micronesia as the National Women’s Health Week. The National Women’s Health Week celebrates the extraordinary progress in women’s health and it recognizes that more needs to be done to safeguard the health status of women today, and for generation to come. With the theme “Cancer Prevention,” the week’s activities are expected to focus on the importance of incorporating simple preventative and positive health behaviors into women’s everyday life. The proclamation further encourages women to receive preventive health services and education on a variety of topics that will be offered in their local communities.
