Nena Established Health Study Team

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Service): September 12,
1997 – President Jacob Nena, on September 8, 1997, informed the
four State Governors that a team consisting of the Secretary of
Health, representatives from the Office of Administrative Services
(OAS), Economic Management Policy Advisory Team (EMPAT), and External
Affairs has been established to tour the states with appropriate
state officials.

The purpose is to learn more about problems with respect to
hospital facilities, pharmaceutical or medicinal drug, medical
equipment and supplies, medical referral programs in the states and
Honolulu patient referral housing. And to identify possible
activities and areas where assistance could be provided.

The full cooperation of every states is requested. A firm
schedule of the team’s trips will be relayed to each Governor when
the team is ready to undertake this task, Nena concluded.
